PAGEANT Workshop: Isabel Legate "The Dressing Room"

The Dressing Room is a performance workshop that explores our aspirational relationship to clothing and the act of getting dressed.

Who do we desire to become when we slip our hands along a silky green dress? Or slide our feet into the snug leather of a pair of shiny shoes? What identities do we conjure? And what happens when we disfigure these fantasies? The Dressing Room is a place to explore the act of becoming and the act of unfurling.

Class will consist of a warmup followed by a short reading and writing exercise. We will develop an improvisational vocabulary in relation to our clothing then explore these gestures within a composition.

Please bring heels, dresses, scarves, socks, berets, brooches, eyeshadow, chains, wallets, pantyhose, blazers, skirts, thongs, gloves etc.

No dance experience required ;)
