Event Details

Why travel far when you can experience nature and an urban adventure right in your own backyard? The Paddle in the City series is brought to you by HERO USA in partnership with the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, Friends of  the Lower Olentangy Watershed (FLOW), the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) and ODNR-Division of Wildlife. We will be hosting public paddles the 2nd Saturday of each month on the newly designated Olentangy River Water Trail. Each month these 2nd Saturday Paddles will feature a different section of the trail to highlight this great resource for study and recreation.

Join us Saturday June 14th for our inaugural paddle to kickoff MORPC’s annual Riverfest On Tour! as we paddle the newly restored Olentangy River from Tuttle Park to Downtown. Participants will experience the free flowing waters of the river after the removal of the 5th Avenue Dam. We will make a couple of stops along the way to examine the new riverbanks and the storm water wetlands that have been created to help clean up the water running off the surrounding neighborhoods.

Come participate in Paddle in the City, and learn how you can help protect this wonderful resource in the heart of Columbus and experience the Olentangy River Water Trail. Whether you join us in June for Riverfest, July for ODNR's exploration of wildlife, August for FLOW's river clean up, or September for the family paddle, you can make a difference to our River.
