Pacific Riff - Stand-up Comedy at the Pacific Standard
Sun, April 30, 2017, 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM PDT
LAUGH AS THE TITANS DO
Pacific Riff is the best UC Berkeley-adjacent comedy show you can see on a Thursday night at the Pacific Standard tavern. Every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month, hosts/titans/Jaeger-Pilots Brandon Garner and Jesse Hett bring you the best lineup of stand-up comedians you can see this side of the Pacific. For the price of Free-fifty and located at the Pacfiic Standard bar next to the Downtown Berkeley BART station, this show has no time for riff-raff - even though most of the entertainers on the show are pretty much riff-raff. Come on down to the show, grab a drink, and laugh into weekend.
The show is completely free. Ordering a ticket is still highly recommended, as it will remind you about the show a day in advance. See you there!

I, FOR ONE, ACCEPT OUR NEW OVERLORDS
Who exactly are your hosts?
Jesse Hett is a human comedian based in Oakland, California by way of central Kansas. He has appeared on the front page of the Wall Street Journal doing comedy while wearing a virtual reality helmet. That sounds made up but it's true, you can look it up. He has performed in SF Sketchfest and the Savage Henry Comedy Festival; is a regular at Rooster T. Feathers, the San Jose Improv, and the San Francisco and Sacramento Punch Lines. His style has been described as "observational absurdism" and one newspaper reviewer wrote that he "says very smart things in a very dumb way" which is kind of mean but print media is dying so Jesse Hett will have the last laugh. He produces the Listen Party show in Oakland and Attractive Camp at Doc's Lab in SF.
Brandon Garner is a boy who was raised amonst a poor family of Christian artists in a farm town. He now lives the rebellious life of delighting audiences by oversharing personal stories, missteps, and strange observations all the while maintaining his naive innocence. He has performed in the Savage Henry Comedy Festival, the Del Close Marathon, and the Redwood Comedy Festival. Brandon has received heckles ranging from "Such a sweet boy!" to "Keep going!" from audience members, proving that he has indeed lived through the harshest of times. He produces the Wheel of Karaoke game-show at the Spice Monkey in Oakland, and the Inside Baseball comedy variety show at Stage Werx in SF.
