Event description
The Pacific Northwest Virtual Distance Challenge. Set a goal, run, walk, hike to hit it, then get great swag during our October Challenge!

About this Event

Join us for the FIRST Pacific Northwest Virtual Distance Challenge, brought to you by the Oregon Brewery Running Series. This October, we challenge you to run, walk, and hike as many miles as you can throughout the month! While it may be challenging to come together in person like normal right now, nothing can stop us from BEING ACTIVE, HAVING FUN, and GIVING BACK!

We know that exercise relieves stress, improves memory, helps you sleep better, and boosts your mood. It can also positively impact depression, anxiety, ADHD, and more (source). As we all prepare for what's sure to be an interesting fall, let's set ourselves up for success!

Over the next 31 days, set an audacious goal to run, walk, or hike more than ever before. Then, on Saturday, October 31st, join us for a socially-distant-in-person (or virtual) 5K at Stickmen Brewing! Wear your best masked Halloween costume and see all that hard work pay off! *Challenge participants get $5 off their entry.

We invite you to be part of our virtual community here at the Oregon Brewery Running Series and experience the beauty of encouraging one another to achieve our running and walking goals. Despite these challenging times, we hope this experience will be yet another reminder that #lifeisbrewtiful with good friends and good beer.

Join us for our next Virtual Distance Challenge, from October 1 - 31, 2020. A portion of proceeds will go directly to the #EmergeStronger Community Challenge, part of the Oregon Food Bank.

About The Oregon Food Bank

The Oregon Food Bank and Statewide Network of 21 regional food banks and approximately 1,200 food assistance sites help our neighbors facing food insecurity throughout Oregon and Clark County, Washington.

Food assistance is provided to anyone who needs it. Our Network ensures access without discrimination against any person because of race, color, citizenship, religion, reprisal, sex, national origin, ancestry, age, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, unfavorable discharge from the military or status as a protected veteran.

In an average month, an estimated 260,000 people are receiving food from a food pantry in the Network.

  • The rate of food insecurity (being without access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food) in Oregon is 14.6%.
  • About 552,900 Oregonians are food insecure, of those 194,070 are children.
  • About 72% of the people who receive food have incomes below the federal poverty level.
  • Of households utilizing food pantries, about 80% of them are able to meet their food needs for the month with the help of a pantry.

The Oregon Food Bank Network is prepared to meet the challenges of this moment head-on, but they need our help! Not only will you be rewarded for being active this month while enjoying great Oregon craft beers, but you are also contributing to our states' response to COVID-19.
