Description

P4P Presents: 2019 Community Conversations Series: 'Models of Disability - How do we ensure everyone belongs?':

Are you wondering how to be a meaningful ally to disabled people, the largest minority in the US? Are you familiar with the medical and social models of disability, how they've influenced societal structures, and shape our thinking around disability and equity today? What is Disability Pride? Come join a conversation around these and other questions as we learn together how to begin to make sure that everyone belongs.

This discussion series will be free and open to the public. Our mission with this series is to bring a wide-range of voices to the table to discuss topics important to the Sammamish community and beyond.

Taina Karru-Olsen, Marija Bogic and Ananda Scott are founding members of Inclusion for ALL (IFA). IFA is a grassroots cross-disability advocacy and education network focused on meaningful, equitable inclusion in schools in Washington State. IFA’s mission is to learn and teach about meaningful inclusion in education as well as in communities, and to support, encourage, and advise each other as we advocate for inclusion for all. We recognize full, meaningful inclusion as research-based best practice and as such, our shared goal. Our founding values are Disability Pride, Disability Rights, Disability Justice, and solidarity.

Volunteers and refreshment donations gladly accepted!

Please RSVP as space is limited.
