Learn everything there is to know about the world famous Apalachicola Oyster!

Featuring the latest research from the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve, this class will walk you through the oyster life cycle,fishing industry, ecology, and explore the state of the bay today. Oysters are ecosystem engineers and their health has severe impacts for several species in the Apalachicola system. This class is taught with hands on techniques whenever possible and will include field trips to look at the oyster bars up close in the Apalachicola Bay.

Time is determined by tides and weather, class session is 1:00pm-4:00pm.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own waders.

The $20 fee can be paid in person by visiting the reserve, or by calling 850-670-7700 during reserve hours.
