About this event
This workshop is a follow up on our previous training session of Oxford and Empire: Teaching Public History Workshop(separate booking) and will help participants implement their ideas for public engagement tours, walks, and talks, focused on the topic of Oxford and Empire. It will begin with a script writing session and then a practical feedback session.
The Oxford and Empire Tours project is a university initiative to encourage university graduate students and early career researchers in history and the wider Humanities to find unique ways to present their research to interested members of the public.
The project will provide the basic training, guidance, and practical skills for students and researchers to develop historical walks and other engagement activities within Oxford.
This project will be trialled in late Trinity 2019 and the goal is to run throughout the summer - allowing members of the public to register for a free guided tour, designed by a university researcher. Tours are based on their own expertise and subjects and routes will vary based on your their interest and design.
* The workshop is specifically designed for DPhil (PhD) students and early career researchers (ECR) from the field of history and the wider humanities. You may also register if you are a master's student starting a doctoral degree in the fall.
Tea and coffee will be provided.
