Storytelling & PR Workshop - Six participants only.
Write your story and create a buzz about your business - without breaking the bank.
Would you like to see your business or brand featured in the local or national press? Would you like to be interviewed on the radio or on TV, or mentioned on the website of top-selling newspapers or magazines? And would you like to learn how to stay on a journalist's radar so you keep appearing in the media?
Getting your story into magazines, newspapers or on broadcast media is a fantastic way to get your message out into the world. It builds brand awareness, boosts credibility and brings in new clients. But advertising is costly and not always effective and you may not have the budget to hire a PR agency.
So why not do it yourself? With my help.
In this small group workshop of just six participants, I'll share what I've learned about compelling storytelling and effective PR over more than 20 years in the media. I'll show you how to identify your brand's most newsworthy story angle, how to find story 'hooks', choose target media, write effective email pitches to editors, follow up and get published.
This is a workshop so expect to do some work! Each participant will get my individual attention (approx. 30 mins each) plus group learning and valuable feedback from other attendees, who could all be potential clients. There will be homework beforehand and you'll go away with a shortlist of target media and some example email pitches that will be ready to send off. You'll learn how to find journalists' contact details, when and how to contact them, how to convert media coverage into new business leads and how to plan a sustainable strategy so you keep getting featured in the media. You'll hear why the era of the press release is over and why today it's all about your story. In short, you'll learn how to own your own PR.
I am a former Reuters and Bloomberg correspondent and freelance journalist and my stories have been published in The Guardian, The Sunday Times, Red, Psychologies, TIME, The Daily Mail and The Huffington Post. I've also been interviewed on Newsnight, Radio 4, Sky News and ITV breakfast television. I now use my journalism and storytelling skills, credibility, contacts and industry knowledge to help individuals, businesses and charities get great coverage.
