Event Details

The Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) incentive programs will provide incentive payments to eligible professionals and eligible hospitals as they adopt, implement, upgrade or demonstrate meaningful use of certified EHR technology.  These incentive programs are designed to support providers in this period of Health IT transition and instill the use of EHRs in meaningful ways to help our nation to improve the quality, safety and efficiency of health care.

CMS Region 10 is hosting webinars for eligible professionals (EPs), eligible hospitals (EHs), and critical access hospitals (CAHs) to provide an overview of the proposed rule for Stage 2 for the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs.  On February 23, CMS announced a proposed rule for Stage 2 meaningful use requirements and other changes to the EHR Incentive Programs, which was officially published on March 7.  The proposed rule outlines the next stage of meaningful use requirements for the EHR Incentive Programs, which are administered by CMS.  CMS has developed a fact sheet to give providers an overview of the rule and how Stage 2 expands upon Stage 1 of meaningful use.  The fact sheet can be found on the CMS Newsroom website.

The webinar will cover:

  • The extension of Stage 1 meaningful use
  • Changes to Stage 1 criteria for meaningful use
  • Proposed Medicaid policies
  • A Stage 2 meaningful Use overview
  • Stage 2 clinical quality measures
  • Medicare payment adjustments and exceptions
  • Question and answers about the incentive programs (note that we cannot answer questions on the rule beyond what is proposed)

The presentation is the same each date, and the times are in Pacific Daylight Savings Time.  Instructions on how to participate in the webinar and teleconference will be e-mailed to you the day before the presentation, and posted on this website.  You will be able to download the slide presentation once you join the webinar.
