Mixing for Post Production with Pro Tools
When it comes to mixing for audio post-production, Pro Tools is one of the leading software tools that provides elegant editing options, deep flexibility in signal routing and endless audio processing parameters. This class focuses on the techniques commonly used for mixing to picture, covering track automation, plug-in automation, equalization and compression techniques, noise reduction for dialogue, creating stems with a final mix, and setting appropriate output levels for varying mediums.
Students will learn:
1. Noise reduction techniques for dialogue.
2. Equalization and compression techniques for dialogue, music and sound design elements.
3. Automating tracks and plug-in parameters.
4. Adding time based processing to dialogue and sound design elements.
5. Signal routing and creating a final mix with stems.

Ryan Kleeman is a Grammy nominated Audio Engineer, Sound Designer, and Instructor. Co-founder of Overlap Studio, Ryan has been working creatively in the Bay area sound community for the last 10 years. Currently, Ryan is teaching audio production and postproduction courses at Overlap, The Bay Area Video Coalition and The Art Institute of California. Ryan has engineered and co-produced with Bay area Artist’s Christopher Willits, Tycho, The Living Earth Show, Silvia Nakkach, Christopher Eickmann, Roma 79, Pleasuremaker, miRthkon, and Future Twin. Ryan is working as a recording, mixing and mastering engineer at Overlap Studio, Ghostcat Studios, and Studio Guapo. Kleeman received his MFA in Sound Design and Audio Engineering from The University of Missouri-Kansas City.
