OVER THE RHINE: https://overtherhine.com/

When you listen to Over the Rhine, the supremely talented musical couple comprised of Karin Bergquist and Linford Detweiler, you quickly fall under the spell of Karin’s timeless voice “which has the power to stop the world in its tracks” (Performing Songwriter). But then the songs start hitting you. Paste magazine writes, “Over the Rhine creates true confessional masterpieces that know neither border nor boundary” and included Bergquist and Detweiler in their list of 100 Best Living Songwriters. Rolling Stone recently wrote, Over the Rhine is a band “with no sign of fatigue, whose moment has finally arrived.” That’s quite a sentiment for a band celebrating 30 years of writing, recording, and life on the road. But as Karin Bergquist states, “There is still so much music left to be made.” Love & Revelation, the new album from Over the Rhine, is a record for right now. The songs have been rigorously road tested and burst at the seams with loss, lament, and resilient hope. The LA Times writes, “The Ohio based husband and wife duo has long been making soul-nourishing music, and the richness only deepens.”

KATIE KUFFEL: https://www.katiekuffel.com/

Katie Kuffel is a tongue-in-cheek, Seattle-based musician smashing the piano in a manner that's not quite blues, not quite folk, and not quite like anything you've heard before. With songwriting that is both innovative and thoughtful, she explores community, feminism, and her personal experiences as an advocate against sexism and violence, with a contemporary sound that supports turbulent, poetic lyrics.Classically trained in the cello, Katie began songwriting at an early age, composing original works with her instructors when her family inherited an old, upright piano (now housed in her Seattle apartment). She has since expanded to incorporate vocal looping and ukulele in her music. Katie stands by her belief that an artist is only as successful as their community, and strives to collaborate, support, and create opportunities for other Seattle-area musicians through projects, curation, and performance.

EVENT & VENUE INFO:

SEATING:

  • Open seating except reserved front rows chairs & benches.
  • To create a "giant living room" effect we offer an unusual concert experience with informal seating on the floor up front surrounding the stage and lots of pews, benches, and chairs around the space.
  • Large shows may have some standing room in back for late arrivals
  • We highly recommend you bring blankets and cushions to create a more comfortable experience whether sitting on the floor or seats. Quiet and non-messy snacks/picnics are allowed. No outside alcohol please.
  • For best seating, arrive early for center floor area and any area on stage not marked with signage.

QUIET POLICY:

  • Please silence all devices. Turn off vibrate, rings, etc. If you need your phone on vibrate for specific reasons, please keep it close to you and not on a hard surface that will distract your neighbor.
  • If arriving late, please be advised that ushers may hold doors during each song due to acoustics of the space.
  • Please refrain from talking during the show.
  • Please enter quietly if the show has already begun.
  • NO CAMERAS WITH MECHANICAL SHUTTERS (This goes for Press too unless approved to shoot during applause only.) That means silent digital cameras/photos are ok but we really recommend you enjoy most of the show through your own 'retina screens'.
  • You probably get the idea, this isn't a loud party venue. :-)
  • Anyone exhibiting loud or disruptive behavior during the event will be asked to leave.

**We are unable to provide a separate soundproof room for viewing this event. These shows are very very pin drop quiet so please consider that when deciding what ages are appropriate. No cry room available at this venue and even voices in the lobby will be heard in the concert space.

COVID Public Health Safety Info:

As of August 23, 2021

Welcome back Abbey Arts family!

As we reopen the doors to our venues, rest assured that we will be welcoming our patrons back in to an environment that prioritizes health and wellness. We are working with local officials to ensure current health and safety protocols are in place at Abbey Arts events, while being mindful that flexibility will be required as those guidelines will likely continue to evolve. Obviously with COVID-19 not being completely eradicated, we’ll have to change some things around here as we go. Please consult the state’s guidelines for the most up-to-date information on phases and state mandated guidelines.

IMPORTANT INFO

  • There is a statewide mask mandate for requiring masks for ALL patrons indoors REGARDLESS of vaccine status. More information from the State of Washington can be found at https://www.governor.wa.gov/sites/default/files/COVID19%20Spectator%20Event%20Guidance.pdf
  • Starting 7/30/21 We are now requiring a government issued photo ID* and PROOF OF VACCINATION or a NEGATIVE COVID-19 PCR test result within 72 hours prior to the event to be allowed to enter the building. Find a testing center here. Please note that test results may take 24-48 hours. Please plan accordingly.
      • Full vaccination is defined as having received a final vaccination dose at least two weeks prior to the event date.
      • The name on your vaccination card or COVID test MUST match your state ID
      • Acceptable forms of proof of vaccination include: an official CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card or a picture of your vaccination card; a digital or printed WA State Certificate of COVID-19 Vaccination; a WA State Immunization Information System printout; or a verified medical record printout from a medical provider.
      • *In addition to providing proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test, guests 18 or older must present a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport. Guests younger than 18 may present a government-issued photo ID or a school photo ID as an alternative. Guests younger than 18 who do not have either a government-issued ID or school photo ID can only attend performances in the company of an adult who provides the required ID and vaccine documentation for themselves and can also provide documentation for the minor’s test results or vaccination verification.
  • All employees are fully vaccinated and are required to wear masks indoors.
  • We are operating at mid capacity to allow more space and smaller crowds.
  • We have increased hand sanitizing stations around the venues. We encourage you to regularly sanitize and fully wash hands when you use the restroom.

We’d be happy to oblige, no questions asked. No refunds given after the event. Thanks!
