Event description

Description

Orthodox Women's Ministry (OWM), a newly sanctioned nonprofit 501(c)3 and trademarked in the USA, was established in 2014, and this year is hosting a special formal dinner with outstanding inter/national speakers!

This year's theme, "Outstanding Orthodox Christian Women in Society" will highlight women figures who have exponentially contributed to society and their church community -- being faithful to both. They have been trailblazers for their communities, in and outside the church.

The speakers, from the Coptic, Armenian, and Indian Orthodox communities, will be sharing their personal journey as Orthodox women in an ever-changing and demanding society:

  • Judge Sherrie Mikhail Miday, County Judge for Ohio (Coptic Church), first Coptic-American to be elected as judge in US history. Judge Sherrie received her doctorate in legal studies from Western Reserve University, is the mother of three, and daughter of Coptic priest Fr. Mikhail Mikhail.

  • Ani Shahinian, PhD candidate, Oxford University (Armenian Church), Ani worked at the US Dept of Justice investigating and prosecuting human trafficking and civil right abuse cases. Now she is working on her doctoral dissertation at Oxford, focusing on Christian Armenian Martyrdom.

  • Lijin Hannah Thomas, LMSW, MA. Lisa graduated from St. Vladimir's Seminary and is currently the Program Director and Social Worker at Volunteers of America, helping build up homeless families. She also directs youth ministry and worship at diocesan level for the Indian Orthodox South-West American Diocese.

Please join us as we celebrate this very special and rare evening and OWM's launch event of these inspiring women and hear more about the ministry's vision, future events, and projects in strengthing Orthodox women's voices globally.

*Women and Men are encouraged to attend, 18 +, formal dinner event.

*Student tickets available with valid ID.
