Event description
Join us for Evening Worship on Sundays at 5 pm in the outdoor labyrinth worship space.

About this Event

It’s time! Due to the decrease in new COVID-19 cases in Georgia, congregations in the Diocese of Atlanta are now allowed to gather outside in groups of no more than 50 for 1 hour or less. We have set up the labyrinth as an outdoor worship space. We invite you to join us for Evening Worship on Sundays at 5 pm. We will continue to live stream Sunday morning services at 8 from the chapel and 10:30 am from the nave in preparation for the time when we can have small groups gather inside.

If you would like to schedule baptism at this service, please contact Rev. Grace.

What to expect:

Plan to arrive on campus at a little before 5 pm. Put on your mask and come to the labyrinth ready to be seated by 5 pm. Use the hand sanitizer provided. As you enter the labyrinth, walk to your right all the way around the circle to the first open bench. Households may sit together. Children are welcome to sit on a blanket or small chair in front of parents, or you may reserve a second bench for your family. A bulletin will be on the website, which you may print from home and bring or follow along on your phone or tablet. You are also welcome to bring your own Prayer Book or Bible. At the conclusion of the service, plan to leave quickly and not linger, as we are allowed only a limited time for gathering.

Please note that masks are required for everyone over the age of 2. Restrooms are for emergency use only and must be cleaned after every use.

How to Prepare

Outdoor worshipers accept the responsibilities of gathering in pandemic conditions and agree to abide by the following practices for everyone’s health and safety:

Pray: Talk with God about why you wish to participate and what you hope to gain. Mentally prepare to keep the necessary distance. Consider how you will greet others you see without touching. If it is better for you to remain home for your health and safety, offer any sadness you may feel about that to God.

Discuss: Talk with members of your household about whether you wish to do this. If bringing young children, talk with them about the importance of keeping distance and wearing masks.

Check your health: Before arriving, ask yourself how you have been feeling. Do not attend if anyone in the household is experiencing fever, cough, sore throat, loss of energy, nausea, loss of taste/smell or other symptoms of COVID-19 or other communicable disease. If you believe any of you have been exposed to COVID-19, or anyone with symptoms of COVID-19, or to anyone who may themselves have been exposed, regardless of your current symptoms, please do not attend. The Church reserves the right to ask those expressing symptoms to separate from the group, leaving the grounds of the Church until you are feeling better and symptom-free.

Face Masks: Please bring your own face mask or covering with you and wear it throughout your time on campus.

Register:

Please sign up if you wish to participate. By registering, you agree to abide by the guidelines above. You also agree to give us your contact information. The Church will gather and maintain contact information of all in attendance to facilitate any communication or contact tracing that could become necessary in the event a case of COVID-19 is identified among those who participated.

You are reserving a bench through Eventbrite. There are 18 in the circle and 3 just beyond. To be sure we do not exceed the 50-person limit, you may be contacted to find out how many in your family are actually attending.

We will maintain a waitlist for each service. If space allows, those on the waitlist will be contacted to see if you would like to attend and bring your own chair.

If your plans change, please cancel your reservation in Eventbrite so the next person on the waiting list can attend. Please do not assign your reservation to someone else.

If you have trouble with Eventbrite, contact Meg at office@stthomascolumbus.org and she will help you register.
