Description
Greater Greenwood Community Band performs a Symphonic Jazz and Pops Outdoor Concert on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the Greenwood amphitheater in Surina Square park. The 80+ piece band takes the stage with a classic collection of symphonic JAZZ & POPS music packed with nostalgia, rich rhythms, and beautiful blues. Featuring special guests and vocalists, concert selections include “Harlem Nocturne”, “A Salute to American Jazz”, “Indiana”, “A Scott Joplin Retrospective”, “Buenaventura”, Embraceable You”, “But Not For Me”, “Someone To Watch Over Me”, and “Star Dust”.
Under the direction of Randy Greenwell and Ora Pemberton, Greater Greenwood Community Band is a not-for-profit 80+ piece band of volunteer musicians celebrating their 25th year of bringing concert band music to Greenwood. The group’s new Director, Randy Greenwell is freshly retired from Lawrence Central High School and was recently inducted into the Bands of America’s “Hall of Fame”. To join the mailing list and get further details, visit the group’s website, http://www.GreenwoodBand.org.
This Sunday evening event features vocals and special guests. Refreshments will be provided by our sponsors. Bring a lawn chair, friends, neighbors, kids and grandkids, and maybe even a pet for a fun musical evening concert in Greenwood's newly renovated amphitheater at Surina Square Park.
Your donations to help support the band are greatly appreciated, but, as always, admission is free! No tickets required.
