Event description

Description

All young people have a right to fun, meaningful learning opportunities that empower them to be college, career, and community ready. Students in OUSD Expanded Learning Programs will thrive in their school and community, as they develop meaningful relationships that support their success. Continuous quality improvement is a research-based improvement system that helps youth programs set meaningful improvement goals based on data, enact new practices, and create powerful developmental environments for youth. In order to support continuous quality improvement in expanded learning programs, we have established a Community of Practice for Site Coordinators leading the continuous quality improvement efforts at the site level.

The Community of Practice will consist of three sessions:

  1. Tuesday, Oct.10, 2017; 10:00am-12:00pm
  2. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018; 10:00am-12:00pm
  3. Tuesday, Apr. 10, 2018; 10:00am-12:00pm

Participants should plan on attending all three sessions. Content will align with processes and deliverables for OUSD After School Program Lead Agencies and will include facilitated discussions and peer supported learning. Experienced Site Coordinators will benefit from opportunities to collaborate with each other as well as share their knowledge with others.

The purpose of the Community of Practice is to provide a space for peer learning that will result in opportunities for leadership and measureable improvement in program quality over time. During the Community of Practice sessions, participants will:

  • Participate in peer learning opportunities to spread promising practices
  • Practice coaching skills with peers
  • Receive coaching on the most challenging elements of leading continuous quality improvement

Please be advised that the location for all three sessions is just a few blocks from the Lake Merritt Bart station. Public parking is available in a number of neighborhood garages, all of which charge a fee that varies from location to location. Parking fills up early in the day, so we would like to encourage participants to take advantage of public transportation options or carpool if at all possible.

This is a closed meeting intended only for OUSD Staff and Lead Agency Partners.
