Description

OUR VILLAGE: Day of Peaceful Resistance

Come join us for 'Our Village: A Day of Peaceful Resistance'- a day to celebrate, learn, and connect the climate justice movement.

We will spend the day making art with Extinction Rebellion, listening to flashtalks from activist groups such as the Illuminator, dancing salsa, and we will honor the brave activists, indigenous leaders, and frontline community leaders resisting extractive industries and acting on behalf of our Mother Earth and all of humanity.

Schedule:

9:30 Doors Open for Light Breakfast, Coffee & Tea
10:00 Guided Meditation with Amalia Sirica
10:30-2:30 Art Making with Extinction Rebellion
2:00-5:00 Mambo Loco Salsa Band!

Woven throughout the morning and afternoon we will host flashtalks from different environmental and activist groups and climate justice leaders.

Extinction Rebellion is a global movement fighting against the climate crisis through non-violent direct action and civil disobedience. We are now in over 65 countries and 369 cities around the world. All of our actions are based in art, creativity, and regenerative culture. We see the crisis we are living in, and give ourself power by acknowledging it, grieving for what is happening to the planet and all species, and funneling that into action. Come join us for a day of music, art making, meeting rebels, and getting ready for the International Rebellion starting on October 7th as we fight for all life on this planet.

We are a DIY movement - we. keep our footprint as low as possible. We will have all the supplies available to screen print graphics on clothes and bags, so bring your items to get some rebel graphics on them!

The Illuminator is an art-activist collective comprised of visual artists, educators, filmmakers, and technologists living and working in New York City.

The collective has staged hundreds of projection-interventions in public spaces, transforming the street from a space of passive consumption and transit into a site of engagement, conflict, and dialogue. Our work calls attention to the many urgent crises that confront us, in support of the ongoing struggle for a more just, peaceful and sustainable world.

You can find us on Instagram at @the.illuminator, and on Twitter and Facebook at @illuminator99.
