Event description

Description

The story of the American veteran is one that is written in the history books but what if the story is not complete? Across the United States, there are an estimated 1 million LGBTQ veterans and yet, our stories remain largely untold. Until now.

Join Diversity Richmond, Minority Veterans of America, Us GivingRichmond Connections/Black Pride RVA, (planning partners listed here), and partner organizations for an evening of coming together, sharing space, and bearing witness to our collective truths. The night will be complete with performances by Monument City Music, stories from the community, and an opportunity for attendees to share their own stories of serving while LGBTQ or as a member of a military family.

Do you have a story to share? We welcome you to the microphone for 3-5 minutes to speak your truth. Your story can be funny, heartbreaking, or anything between. All we ask is that it’s a story that speaks to your lived experience as an LGBTQ service member, veteran, family member, or individual in the world.

All are welcome at this event, no need to be a veteran or LGBTQ to bear witness to the truths that will be shared. This event is free, open to the public, and family friendly.
