There is no fire on the Sun! All that energy is electromagnetic.
We’ll share fun solar facts, learn about sun spots, the Northern Lights and prepare for the 2017 Total Eclipse of the Sun that will race across the USA this August. Totality will miss NJ by hundreds of miles, but there are still fun activities you can plan when the Moon blocks ¾ of the Sun.
After our evening program, we’ll take out the telescope for night sky observation and a laser constellation tour, weather permitting. We may observe a first quarter Moon, Jupiter and its Galilean moons, and other night sky objects accessible from outside the classroom.
