OUR FLAG - Restitch The Untied States

Muriel Stockdale's art exhibit, Our Flag - Restitch The Untied States, invites visitors to repair a portion of a massive, torn US flag while dedicating their action as an intention for recreating coherence and harmony among all US citizens. Also included are her diverse US flags. As an immigrant Muriel honors all immigrant contributions to the richness of life in the United States. Since 2003 her unique flags that respectfully celebrate the diverse cultures within the United States have been a focus of her work. Recent work includes oil portraits of the artist's friends featuring elements expressing the subject's cultural heritage.

Other installations adding to the discourse and meditation on the value of multiple cultural points of view are her award winning short film, "New York City Spirit," which shares imagery of New Yorkers connecting to their divine. As well as an altar replete with sacred items from all cultures represented among our US citizens, which invites visitors to contemplate the profound connections they share.
