Event description
OUAMS is excited to welcome Home Counties for their debut live performance, supported by local icons Lacuna Common.

About this Event

Home Counties are formed out of the ashes of Bristol’s ‘wayward post-punk’ four-piece Haze, a band that made a name for itself over the last few years supporting the likes of Shame, Sports Team and Pip Blom. Now, armed with maracas, a synth and not one but two cowbells, Home Counties are ready to enrage Middle England with their discordant, angular melodies and bitingly satirical lyrics. Reminiscent of Parquet Courts and DUDS.

“Boiling hot but never spilling over, it’s that special brand of ramshackle post-punk that plucks thrills from the brink of collapse; raucous and dripping with irony, but never raucous for irony’s sake” - So Young Magazine (of Haze)

“if Oxford gig crowds have a reputation for being reserved, no one told Haze’s fans.” - Nightshift Magazine

Recently featured in NME’s Top 100 Essential New Artists for 2020, local indie-rockers Lacuna Common have appeared at Truck Festival this year and have been up and down the country with the likes of Sports Team, JAWS and L.A. Peach. NME claims they ‘sound perfect in dingy toilet circuit venues when you’re three pints down and up for letting out that frustration’. Come get the pints in and see for yourself.

“An intoxicating youthful enthusiasm… ‘Lack Of Knowledge’ shows Lacuna Common as a band with an untameable, fizzy energy” - DIY

“Devoutly British in the same way as the intricate design of a Wetherspoons carpet, it's a three-minute rollercoaster ride” – Clash
