Description

Hike Leader: Eric Hanson, FANs Trail Monitoring Coordinator

Hike Rating: Easy

This hike is a delightful 3.5 mile loop. There is only a slight bit of elevation gain and loss. This hike is scheduled to celebrate the lifting of the annual trail closure. It features spectacular views into the lower Crooked River gorge. We will chat about plants, wildlife, and early ranch history along with that burning question: Why the heck do they call it Horny Hollow? This tends to be a warm time of year, so we will be starting at 8:00 a.m. Meet at Horny Hollow Trailhead at the north end of Horny Hollow Road.

Participants should wear sturdy, closed-toe hiking shoes. Bring at least one quart of water and a snack. Bring trekking poles if you use them. Bring a camera!

Group size is limited to 8 people, and dogs are not allowed on this hike. If you sign up and later need to cancel, please do so as soon as possible so that people on the wait list can be invited to join this hike. Thank you!

Driving directions: Travel north on Chinook Drive past the Crooked River Ranch Golf Course and commercial area. The road becomes Horny Hollow. Follow this to the end of the road.
