Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

Join founder and social entrepreneur Steve Hughes, our friends from Advocates for Urban Agricuture [AUA], their teams of volunteers—and be ready to get your hands dirty! For our last monthly volunteer event of the season, we are excited to partner with AUA; their group volunteering events are part of a larger series and are also in collaboration with Slow Food Chicago.

Learn about OTIS Fresh Farm and also about our site-partners from Nature's Little Recyclers and Healthy Soil Compost while collaborating with our gardening community. Meet other community members that are interested in gardening, farmers markets, access to healthy food and urban agriculture!

Volunteering activities at OTIS Fresh Farm may include clean up, tool organizing, planting or transplanting seedlings, earthwork, soil and plating rows layout, among other design/built improvements to the farm.

Participate in this community-led project in an urban friendly environment. Learn about:
• Recycling and Composting
• Healthy soil preparation
• Starting a garden
• Growing food
• Collecting rain water
• Traditional gardening techniques
