Workshop di Cultura: Otello Opera & Live Music with Mario Ciaccio

About this Event

We are pleased to welcome Mario Ciaccio directly from Italy for an interactive discussion on Otello Opera and a live performance of Verdi's music.

Don't miss the unique opportunity to learn about this Italian Opera and meet with Italian Saxophonist and Conductor Mario Ciaccio who has performed in more than 250 recitals and concerts in various countries all around the world.

We will learn about the worldwide famous Verdi's Otello, an intense story set in Venice and Cyprus, with a superlative text by Boito that has marked a new point of view on Verdi’s composing style.

Mario will talk about the history and gestation of this opera focusing on the great work of important figures such as Arrigo Boito, a famous librettist of Verdi's music.

Ciaccio will end the evening by playing Otello Opera on the saxophone for us. This is a live music performance you won't want to miss!

This workshop will be conducted in Italian with very little English spoken.  

About Mario: 

Eclectic Italian Saxophonist and Conductor, Mario has performed in various countries including Spain, Austria, Italy, USA, Israel, Scotland, Iran, Belgium, Taiwan, Russia, China, Cuba, Germany.

He graduated top of his class from the conservatories of Palermo, Trento and L 'Hay Les Roses (Paris) and Terni.

He is also the winner of 12 national and international competitions of Music. Mario has given lectures regarding contemporary music for saxophone in various universities including Rice University (USA), the University of Arkansas (USA) and the University of Suny (USA), St. Thomas University (USA), Taiwan Army Wind Orchestra (TW), Novosibirsk Conservatory of Music (Russia) and ISAde l’Havana (CU).

He has frequently been invited to sit on panels of Jury, including the prestigious International Competition Adolphe Sax L'Hay les Roses, and the Italian Conservatories of Udine and Palermo.

He is a keen promoter of the saxophone and has held more than 40 master classes. He was also music coordinator at the School of Music C. Eccher of Trento. Currently, he is saxophonist with the National Police Wind Orchestra of Italy. He is also graduated in orchestral conducting with Maestro Galeati Michelangelo, the highly acclaimed conductor from the Berliner Symphoniker and Maestro Fabio Maestri.
