Tue, Sep 19, 2017, 10:00 AM – Thu, Sep 21, 2017, 4:00 PM CEST
The first Oslo Urban Peace Week will be held from September 19-21.
The theme for this first gathering is most relevant to the challenges facing cities on every continent:
How can cities counter terrorism and prevent violent extremism, and still create welcoming environments?
The gathering begins at Oslo on the 19th of September, and continues with events at various venues in the city. Invited mayors from the Focus Cities will present how their cities have dealt with these challenges.
Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) will present its work on Urban Divides: Walls, gates and barriers.
PRIO has identified the city environment as an arena for conflicts and conflict resolution in coming decades.
Oslo Urban Peace Week will focus on the solutions that help foster harmonious city environments, where the interplay of cultures and individuals is enabled across divides. Contributions from the many participants will help enlighten and inform, and begin the important work of spreading crucial insights and solutions to cities all over the world.
Detailed Program will be launched by May 1st
