OSIFT Family Fun Night: Sensory-sational!
Event Information
Description
Happy 2014 Oregon Section IFT Members!
I am excited to ring in the New Year with a new type of OSIFT meeting, Family Fun Night. Bring your family (kids welcome!) to the Spaghetti Factory on Tuesday, January 21st.
Introducing: Sensory-sational! An evening of hands-on learning about sensory science with you and your kids and a pasta dinner! Who said learning about food science isn't fun for all ages and tasty too?!
Our very own sensory expert, Tyler Linscott, will be exploring the elusive Miracle Fruit: How a Berry Turns Sour into Sweet. Tyler is a master's student at Oregon State University, in the Sensory Science Lab under the guidance of Dr. Juyun Lim. He is currently studying how the interaction of odor and taste can affect perception.
Registration is open. Children are admitted at the discounted student rate ($13). Spouses are admitted at the discounted member rate ($30). The deadline to grab a seat is Friday, January 17th at 12pm.
The menu options are:
Italian Sausage with Meat Sauce - zesty sausage served with a rich meat sauce
Fettuccine Alfredo - fettuccine noodles in a butter cream sauce with shredded Romano cheese
Baked Lasagne - layers of noodles, marinara sauce, ground beef and pork, and four kinds of cheese
*All entrees are serverd with a crisp salad with creamy pesto dressing, hot fresh baked bread, and spumoni ice cream for dessert
Can't wait to meet your lovely families,
Linda Wechsler
