Event description

Description

Join the OSA Land Steward team as we return to our Santa Teresa Foothills property!

Our fist venture onto the Santa Teresa Foothills Urban Open Space Preserve last May was a huge success, with the above picured crew cleaning up debris and graffitti.

This time we'll be removing an old fence line, pulling the wooden pickets from the ground with a high lift (like a weed wrench for fence posts). This fence area has some poison oak around it so we will provide coverall-suits. gloves, and Tecnu to minimize exposure. If you know you are very sensistive to poison oak let us know and we will keep you clear with other useful tasks.

The Santa Teresa Foothills property is not yet open to the public and not on GPS. It is near but not a part of Almaden Lake Regional Park. Registrants will be emailed detailed parking and driving directions.

The Open Space Authority provides all the necessary tools, safety equipment, and training for the day, as well as water, coffee, and lunch (sandwiches, chips, and fruit). Please let us know what type of sandwich you prefer (turkey, vegetarian with cheese, or vegan) or if you are bringing your own lunch.

The dress code for safety and comfort is sturdy close-toed shoes, longs pants (no shorts, sweats, or tights), and layers for your upper body. We'll work through a light rain but severe weather cancels the event.

Youth volunteers (Aged 14-17) must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during the Land Steward work. Volunteers under the age of 14 can not be accomodated.
