Event description

Description

"As Gary Nabhan has written, we can't meanigfully proceed with healing, with restoration, without a 're-story-ation.'" Braiding Sweetgrass, Robin Wall Kimmerer

Singer-songwriter-guitarist, Abigail Dowd, and writer-storyteller, Deonna Kelli Sayed, are hosting a creative exploration workshop for women/woman-identified to interrogate personal origin myths. Have you asked yourself: what stories do I carry that empower me? What stories keep me a champion of my own cage? Do I carry stories about myself that are no longer true?

Were these stories ever true?

Many of us lack a model for writing a new script about who we are and our place in the world. Maybe we feel that we don’t have permission to rewrite. Maybe we feel a revision is impossible.

This three-hour workshop will involve writing prompts, dancing interludes, and song as ways to navigate new and emerging narratives about identity and becoming. This judgment free space is for expression and building supportive community. No special skills are required except a willingness to be vulnerable. All bodies, all women (and woman-identified), are welcomed.

$50 per person, snacks and wine (and some non-alcoholic beverages) included. A small number of tickets are reserved for pay-what-you-can. Please email Deonna Kelli Sayed at deonnasayed@gmail.com for specifics.

Please wear comfortable clothes, socks (we will take our shoes off), and bring a sturdy notebook for writing.
