Program at A Glance:

7:30 am - 8:30 am Breakfast and registration

8:30 am - 8:45 am Welcome

8:45 am - 9:30 am Keynote: Innovating Within Your Competitive Advantage: How Associations Can Thrive in the Age of Disruption- Julie Austin, Inventor, Author, and Speaker

All industries face it at some point…disruption. You may think your industry or your company is safe, but when you don’t look into the future and see what’s coming, and when you don’t constantly innovate, you risk being blind-sided by your competition, the economy, technology, the weather, government regulations, or customer tastes. Innovation has become a vague buzz word these days. But if you start by innovating within what you do best, or your competitive advantage, you’ll be ready to change before you’re hit with disruption. Inventor and innovator Julie Austin’s speech is a lesson about companies throughout history that were on the brink of failure as a result of some kind of disruption, but instead started innovating within their competitive advantage, and not only pulled away from disaster, but succeeded by changing course.
Julie will discuss strategies your organization can use to head off disruption in the future. You will learn:
  • How others used their competitive advantage to innovate
  • 3 ideas people thought would become extinct, but didn’t
  • How to leverage and monetize your association’s assets through innovation
  • Simple ways to add value for your members
  • How to infuse innovation into your association’s culture
Julie Austin is a sought-after keynote speaker, award-winning author, and Inventor of Swiggies - The Wrist Water Bottle by Hydrosport. Coming from a background in the television and film industry as a commercial actor and TV host, Julie also has worked on the development of over 1,000 scripts. She understands the creative process and how to sell it from a business perspective. Julie knows a thing or two about innovation. She’s an inventor/innovator who turned $5.00 and a lump of clay into an international NASDAQ winning product—the Swiggles wrist water bottle, now sold in 24 countries.
However, Julie Austin is not stopping there. “I have much more to conquer,” she says! “One good innovative idea could change the way you do business, save your company money, make your employees happier, generate new products and services, boost your bottom line, improve your marketing, catapult your ad campaigns, and improve your public image.” Julie teaches people how to think like an innovator every day… from inspiring keynotes to hands-on breakouts.
