Event description

Description

We are in the midst of the digital industrial age, and the way that technology is shaping our world is exponential. STEM (Science Technology, Engineering & Math) is shaping the future and women should be a part of it. There are two types of beliefs that discourage girls from pursuing STEM at an early age: 1. Negative stereotypes about their intellectual abilities, and 2. Stereotypes about the people who work in STEM careers as being “nerdy” or socially awkward. Cinnamongirl, Inc. brings together a group of amazing dynamic females of color currently working in STEM careers who are anything but “nerdy." Our panel will discuss everything from school challenges, coursework, relationships with teachers and mentors, and their personal experience as to how to succeed in male-dominated fields. Moreover, we will discuss the theory behind Growth Mindset and the preparation needed for an education and career in STEM fields.

This 2-hour workshop is excellent for girls currently in the 6th grade through high school (12th grade). You need not be interested in a STEM education, as this workshop will help our achievers succeed in all challenging coursework. We will hone in on study habits, developing grit, pursuing rigorous coursework in challenging academic institutions. Parents are welcome to attend as we will also provide how to best encourage and support your student to do her best work.

All attendees must have a ticket, so please reserve your seat today. If you would like to be considered for a substantially reduced ticket charge, simply email us at info@cinnamongirl.org. Our workshops are available to all whom wish to attend, and no one shall ever be turned away because of attendee costs.

Cinnamongirl, Inc. believes in sharing insight and information so a young person can see a breadth of ideas and solutions. Through our workshops and amazing mentors, achievers will find their own empowerment, resilience and resolve. Our mission is to provide youth with access, experiences, and a network of influential leaders that empower them to take charge of their lives and grow into successful leaders.
