Event description

Description

The American-French Genealogical Society will host a free workshop to help individuals organize and preserve old photographs. Maureen Taylor, known as The Photo Detective, will explain basic photo organization and photo preservation basics from storage to labeling and everything in-between. Each step includes low-cost solutions that won’t bust your budget.

The workshop will be held on Sunday, April 14 at 1:30 pm at the AFGS Franco-American Heritage Center located at 78 Earle Street in Woonsocket.

“Organizing and preserving photographs can seem like an overwhelming process,” said Taylor. “The steps I will explain will help you understand your family photograph collection and keep it safe for the next generation,” she added.

Maureen Taylor is a frequent keynote speaker on photo identification, photograph preservation, and family history at historical and genealogical societies, museums, conferences, libraries, and other organizations across the U.S., London and Canada. She’s the author of several books and hundreds of articles and her television appearances include The View and The Today Show. She’s been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Better Homes and Gardens, The Boston Globe and Martha Stewart Living. She is a contributing editor of Family Tree Magazine and writes personal memoirs and narrative family histories for the New England Historic Genealogical Society.
