Description

Cover ecological approaches to pest management for the small farm and garden. It will provide an overview of insect biology and ecology and some common organic pest management approaches. Workshop facilitated by Dr. Matt Grieshop. Dr. Grieshop joined the MSU department of Entomology in 2007 as the Organic Pest Management faculty member. The overall goal of his research and extension efforts are to develop, refine, and deliver pest management technologies that minimize off farm inputs while preserving farm economic sustainability. In addition to teaching a regularly scheduled Organic Pest Management Course (ENT 479) he also regularly mentors between 4 to 10 graduate and undergraduate students as well as 1-3 post-doctoral research associates per year. *Workshop required for Urban Gardener Certification.

Graciously sponsored by Hammond Farms!

In order to be able to offer exceptional gardening workshops to our community, we try to price the workshops to cover our costs of hosting them while keeping the registration affordable for our neighbors. If you can, we ask that you pay the suggested $12. You are always welcome to pay more to support our programming and subsidize attendance for other neighbors.

If the cost of this workshop is a burden for you but you still want to come, we will not turn you away! Please e-mail or call Gardening Educator Kat Kepski at gardeningeducator@allenneighborhoodcenter.org or 517-999-3913 to discuss this option.
