Description

This class will cover practical tips on how to create a new garden, soil preparation, seed starting, planting techniques, container gardening, cultural techniques during the growing season (such as watering, fertilizing, pest and weed control), how plants and soil interact, succession planting, planting multiple crops in the same space, how to compost, crop rotation, cover cropping, and mycorrhizobials. There will also be discussions about our current food system, including pesticides, globalization and famine, and organic certification. The instructor is Vince Cirasole, a resident of Rochester who is an experienced teacher, commercial vegetable grower, organic growing enthusiast, and author of, "How to Grow a Vegetable Garden that Cannot Fail."

This is a three part course and we hope that you will be able to attend all three sessions to get the most out of it. The ticket system will ask you to select a date, but you are registering for all three dates.
