Event description

Description

The Oregon Conservation Law Forum is an educational program organized by the Coalition of Oregon Land Trusts (COLT) for attorneys with land trusts, public agencies and law firms to learn, discuss and help shape land conservation law in Oregon. The purpose of the forum is to discuss current legal cases, emerging legal and policy issues for land conservation, to review strategies, and to provide guidance for meeting these challenges. Through these forums, COLT hopes to support a peer network of attorneys that share a common interest in conservation and land use in Oregon.

This is the final forum of the year!! For those who have attended past law forums, please note the new time: Wednesday, December 5th at Lane Powell in Portland from 8:30am - 12:30pm.

Topics for the December session will focus on land trusts working with Tribal partners. The current agenda includes:

  • Historic Land Loss among Native Americans: What Land Trusts Need to Know Before Partnering with Native American Tribes and Nations
  • Tribal Sovereignty and Governance
  • Case Studies – Partnerships and Relationships between Tribes and Land Trusts

Forum enrollment is limited to about 25 people, so register early. There is a call-in / video ticket option for those who would like to participate remotely.

The forum will include some breakfast items. The cost of the forum is $100 with MCLE credits, and $50 without.
