“Oral Mucosal Lesions Unresponsive to Antibiotics, Antifungals and Antivirals”
In a busy medical and dental practice patients can present with a variety of oral symptoms. There are few oral lesions that respond to antibiotics, antivirals and antifungals. But patient's general practitioners treat oral lesions by antibiotics, antivirals and antifungals as the first line of therapy. When these lesions do not respond, patients are referred to an ENT. It takes about two/three months for patients to reach an Oral medicine/Oral pathology practice.
In this session an attempt is made to make general dentists aware and identify lesions unresponsive to common medical management strategies. At the end of the session you will be able to arrive at a list of differential diagnosis and management options for conditions presenting in day to day practice. This will enhance your patient satisfaction and retention.
Actual cases and management issues will be discussed.
After this lecture, the participant should be able to:
* List differential diagnosis of lesions unresponsive to antibiotics, antivirals and antifungals.
* Identify importance of biopsy to arrive at a definitive diagnosis.
* Describe managment options.
