Do you have a business you are ready to grow, but also have questions about accessing the capital you need to take that next step? In the Bay Area, funding is ofter considered synonymous with venture capital, but venture capital isn't the right option for every business. And, as we all know not everyone has the same access to the world of instiutional investors.

If you're an entrepreneur who wants to understand all your options for raising capital, join StartOut for a panel discussion on accessing traditional and alternative funding for your business.

Meet the Panel


Bianca Cabán, Head of Partnerships at Republic

Bianca Cabán is Head of Partnerships at Republic, a fundraising platform for startups and blockchain projects. Before Republic, she worked on Wall Street for 5 years, including at Credit Suisse, BlackRock, and Atlas Merchant Capital, where she conducted business in Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. Bianca also established a consultancy, Taino Capital, where she worked with various entities on new fund infrastructure and strategy, business development, as well as the tax and economic incentives in Puerto Rico. Through Taino, she advised and launched economic revitalization projects in real estate, medical cannabis, and the entrepreneurship accelerator space. She is on the Advisory Board of Lilu, an innovative female-led hardware startup, and an alum of the World Economic Forum Global Shapers and Milken Institute Young Leaders Circle. Bianca earned an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA from Harvard College.


Dianna Tremblay, Director of Acceleration at ICA Fund Good Jobs

Dianna Tremblay is the Director of Acceleration at ICA Fund Good Jobs which invests in high potential businesses to create economic freedom for those who need it most. She is ultimately responsible for scaling the impact of their Good Jobs Accelerator and cultivating the support and capital ecosystem necessary for entrepreneurs to scale their businesses. Prior to joining ICA Fund Good Jobs, Dianna's professional experience included sales, corporate relationship management, and business development roles in e-commerce and textbook publishing. Dianna received a MBA from the Lorry I. Lokey School of Business and Public Policy at Mills College and a BA in English from California State University, East Bay.


Adria Moss, Associate Director, PCV Loan Fund

As the Associate Director of Pacific Community Ventures’ loan fund, Adria uses her financial background to help create economic justice for underserved communities. She provides access to capital for small business owners who have been barred access from traditional financing institutions. She actively works to promote diverse small business owners including people of color, women, veterans, and members of the LGBTQ community. Prior to joining PCV, Adria worked in the financial services office at Ernst and Young where she performed financial statement audits of hedge funds, private equity firms, and venture capital firms. She then worked as a valuation analyst and associate with Teknos Associates where she served emerging-growth companies in the technology, life sciences, and energy industries. Adria obtained a Bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley in Political Economy.


Angelic Williams, Founder & Ceo at MyUmbrella

Angelic is the Founder and CEO of MyUmbrella: a social networking platform for the LGBTQ+ community rooted in Wellness, Inclusion, Social and Education. She is a third-generation entrepreneur and grew up in a family of small business owners and was intimately involved with the day to day operations. As a result, she’s well versed in the grit and perseverance required to start, sustain and grow a business. Prior to founding her company, she was an architectural designer involved in projects including Menlo Circus Club, San Ramon City Hall and the Pacific Union Club and the lead developer manager for affordable and workforce housing projects in the Bay Area and New York City. Angelic is a San Francisco native and holds a Bachelor of Architecture (California College of the Arts) and Master of Science in Real Estate Development (Columbia University).



Scott Thacker, Angel Investor with Sand Hill Angels & CEO of Ivory Consulting

Scott Thacker is the CEO of Ivory Consulting, the leading software and consulting solution for modeling and pricing complex equipment leases and loans. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association as well as a member of its Lease and Finance Accountants Committee and a previous chair of its Operations & Technology Committee. He is the co-director of the Research Committee of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Foundation. He is also an advisor to Primus Power and Koe International, a member of the Board of Governors of StartOut and an angel investor. Prior to joining Ivory in 2010, Scott was a partner and co-leader of Accenture’s asset finance management consulting practice. Scott earned an M.B.A. in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in Accounting from the Wake Forest University School of Business. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
