Event description
This training will focus on working effectively with pain and addictive issues utilizing harm reduction and embodied mindfulness practices.

About this Event

Embodied Mindfulness: Somatic Practices for Pain + Addictive Behaviors

Meaningful change happens by addressing patterns in the mind and body. Habits are conditioned over time and the practices of embodied mindfulness and somatic psychology can spotlight patterns of mind and body so they can be recognized and replaced skillfully. Integral to this approach are the practices of compassion and kindness.

This training will specifically focus on the intersection of pain and problematic behaviors such as substance misuse. There will also be an overview of integrative harm reduction psychotherapy principles and practices. Through guided experiential components, lively discussion and Q+A, this workshop will explore a variety of skillful means to work with the body and mind to heal the heart.

The training will start at 10am so please try to arrive by 9:30 am. Light pastries and coffee/water will be provided. There will be an hour break for lunch around 1pm (on your own). Training agenda will be provided shortly.
