This workshop will focus on a single question: what if systems of oppression are driven by addiction?
We’ll consider the historical and psychological roots of oppression, and we'll look at how we might borrow from the idea of addiction on the level of the individual in order to frame what's happening with systems of oppression on the societal level.
Central to this line of thinking is the connection between trauma and addiction, and how they tend to provide fuel for systems of oppression in the way they reproduce one another.
This two-hour workshop will be part presentation and part discussion. Come ready to ask questions, share your ideas, and connect with others interested in addressing one of the biggest challenges of our time.
