Event description

Description

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 included a provision for Opportunity Zones, which are a new community development program to encourage long-term private investments in select low income census tracts. Taxpayers who reinvest unrealized capital gains into "Opportunity Funds" can receive a federal tax incentive. These Opportunity Funds can bring new dollars to low income communities for things like housing and grocery stores to some areas, but can also accelerate gentrification.

Will Lambe, Director of Capital Solutions with Enterprise, will join us to present an overview of Opportunity Zones and what they mean for communities, investors, and government. Participants - which will include philanthropic funders, community based organizations, government officials, and investors - can ask questions and discuss what we can do locally to seize on the opportunities in Opportunity Zones.

Presented by Greenville Partnership for Philanthropy, in partnership with Ten at the Top's Alternative Capital Group and the Nonprofit Alliance.
