Event description
Explore Science and Medical Communications - hosted by CHIentist, AMICULUM and the UIC Post-Doctoral Association!

About this Event

CHIentist, in partnership with AMICULUM and the UIC Post-Doctoral Association, is excited to bring you a unique event exploring Science Writing and Medical Communications!

As part of an early celebration of "MedComms Day", come and learn about what it means to work in the medical communications industry and the opportunities, applications, and developments in this field from our distinguished panel. Afterwards, spend some time networking with the panelists, fellow scientists, academics, and industry professionals.

There is an ever-growing realization in health care of the need to bridge the gap between complex clinical information and accessible content delivery – translating the work of brilliant scientists, clinicians, and innovators to be utilized in different settings and applications. Effectively synthesizing sophisticated scientific research findings, clinical data, and medical concepts and strategically communicating to the correct audience is arguably an art in itself.

Our distinguished panelists will share insights into the varying academic backgrounds and professional paths that can lead one to this field, as well as the vast array of applications – from written content creation and editing, to visualization and design. Science and medical communications expertise is an integral skill set throughout health care, including pharmaceutical material development, medical device marketing, academic publication, quality improvement and patient safety, health care policy, patient education, and social media management, among countless other areas. Our hope is that this program will further inform attendees on these different paths and opportunities within science and medical communications.

The panelists will broadly discuss their personal path to get to their current position, their current job responsibilities and advice for people that are looking into medical communications or science writing as a profession.

Following our panel there will be an interactive networking reception. Our goal is to foster meaningful connections between professionals across the entire scientific and medical spectrum.
