Join Eau Claire City-County Health Department, UW-Eau Claire, Mayo Clinic Health System, Marshfield Clinic Health System, HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital/HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital and Prevea Behavioral Care in a collaborative discussion about the opioid epidemic in our community.

Why Opioids?

While prescription drugs serve an important purpose when used under a doctor’s care, the misuse of prescription painkillers; such as opioids, has increased steadily over the past decade, putting many lives at risk. Drug overdose is now a leading cause of preventable unintentional injury deaths in the United States. Opioid addiction is driving this epidemic and is a growing concern in Eau Claire County.

Who should attend?

Opioids impacts families, individuals, and our community in many ways. This discussion is for law enforcement, health care providers, public health, environmental safety personnel, preparedness, and others that work in and around the issue are invited to participate in our event.

What will the event include?

Participants can expect to learn a wide variety of information related to this national issue and how it is affecting our area. Community and statewide experts will provide an examination of current efforts, changing trends, and emerging threats. There will also be an exploration of community readiness, resources, and data around the issue, as well as facilitation of a multi-sector conversation to address the opioid crisis in our community.

Register for the free event at http://opioidsandourcommunity.eventbrite.com. Food and refreshments will be provided.
