Event description

Description

Opioids have changed pain management for the better in many cases. This is a good thing. Unfortunately, they have also had a negative effect on our communities. They continue to leave a trail of fatalities, young and old, that cut across class distinctions and neighborhood locations. Works such as Dreamland (by Sam Quinones) and Pain Killer (by Barry Meier) have made this more than evident.

What are the stressors that young people face today? Are uses of opioids negative coping mechanisms facing our communities today? How best can we use the resources available to us to prevent and intervene in the problem of opioids? Join health professionals and prevention and intervention counselors who will respond to these questions and more for a free and public panel event.

Opportunities are available to participate in affinity-based activities immediately following the event. These 30-minute sessions include: When and how to use Narcan? Relieving Stress through Yoga. Fun and Friendly Workshop for Teens with a Life Coach. Ecumenical Interfaith Meditation.
