Event Details

This conference will focus on the need for action for mothers and babies impacted by the opioid and other drug epidemic. An emphasis will be placed on medical concerns around pre-natal care, issues during labor and delivery as well as post-delivery necessities to build resources to ease the life consequences for these children.

Target Audience is: OB-GYN, Internal Medicine, Neonatology, Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, Pediatricians, Family Practice Medicine, Nurse Midwives, Nurses, Medical Professionals, Social Services: State and County level, Alcohol/Drug Treatment providers, Child Welfare, Family Counselors, Social Workers, Public Health and other interested, involved community members.

Continuing Education credits are in the application process. Two days Friday 9/27 from 8-5 and 9/28 Saturday from 8-4.

Presentations, facilitated discussions, skill building workshops and networking to build understanding and share resources.

Keynote Speaker:
Barbara Cimaglio- former Deputy Commissioner for Alcohol and Drug Abuse Programs at
the Vermont Department of Health (VDH). She is a nationally recognized leader in the
field of alcohol and drug abuse prevention, treatment and recovery. Her career spans over
40 years of service at the state and local level. Prior to joining VDH in 2004, Ms.
Cimaglio directed the Office of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Programs for the State of
Oregon (1997-2004), and held the position of Director of the Department of Alcoholism
and Substance Abuse for the State of Illinois from 1994 – 1997.  Her work is documented in http://www.astho.org/prevention/nas-neonatal-abstinence-report/
