Operation Battle Born: Never Forget
Date and time
A ruck march to remember the events of September 11th, 2001.
About this event
UPDATE: THE RUCK HAS BEEN SHORTENED IN RESPONSE TO THE ONGOING SMOKE HAZARD IN RENO AND CARSON CITY. THERE WILL ONLY BE A SINGLE 12 MILE LEG FROM THE SUMMIT MALL TO THE SPARKS MARINA BEGINNING AT 1PM. IF AIR QUALITY REMAINS HAZARDOUS, THE EVENT WILL MOVE INDOORS TO TRUCKEE MEADOWS COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOR A STAIRS CHALLENGE, ALSO BEGINNING AT 1PM.
To honor those lost and those that responded to the events of September 11th, 2001, a coalition of veterans and first responders have joined together to lead a ruck march from Carson City, Nevada to Nevada Veterans Memorial Park in Sparks, Nevada.
The event is free and open to all able participants. Each leg of the ruck march will be over 11 miles, so preparation will be key to completing the event.
The Reno Lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will generously provide dinner to all registered full ruck leg participants at their facility following the closing ceremony.
