Description

Admission by donation at the door – suggested donation: $15

UBC Okanagan and the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies are major sponsors of Opera Kelowna. Our support is helping to make possible a fourth performance of Carmen -- the Opera’s MainStage Production – on Sunday, August 19.

This will be a private 2:30 p.m. matinee performance of the full production -- just for us -- a special thank you benefit for sponsor organizations including UBC Okanagan.

This special afternoon will help to raise funds for Multiple Sclerosis research and for Opera Kelowna's Young Artist Summer Intensive Training Program.

Attendees are asked to make a donation of only $15 each. This is a very exciting opportunity for us as a supporting organization of the Opera – the tickets for the three public performances of the MainStage Production range from $75 to $125!

Why The MS Society of Canada?

Opera Kelowna Artistic Director Alexandra Babbel’s daughter Kathryn ‘Kiki’ Babbel was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2015. Canada has the highest rate of MS in the world. Kiki and her family are committed to raising funds to find the cause and a cure.

Help Kiki end MS!

“I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2015 when I was 21 years old, and I can honestly say that it has taught me so much, not only about myself but about this erratic disease that affects so many Canadians. Canada has the highest rate of MS in the world. Every day three more Canadians are diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, which is an illness that affects vision, balance, memory, speech, and mobility resulting in a wide variety of symptoms.

Unfortunately, we don’t know what causes MS and there is no known cure.

But I am so hopeful that this will change. Your generous donations will be invested in research to find a cause and cure for this disease, helping not only me but other Canadian individuals and families who are affected by the disease.

THANK YOU so much in advance for joining the fight to end MS. Your support means the world to me.

-- Kiki
