Event description

Description

LEAD YOUR COMMUNITY TO MAKE POSITIVE CHANGE IN THE WORLD!

Kuany Kiir Kuany, a native of South Sudan, is an author and project officer at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP), activating and training youth around the world to encourage positive action and leadership towards building more peaceful communities.

His book, "Enlightened Darkness" is the story of Joseph, a young child born in the South Sudan during its bloodiest conflicts. A refugee since birth, Joseph and his family narrowly escape death time and time again. Their story, and those of most South Sudanese, is one of loss, and the power of hope while living under the most unfortunate of circumstances. Follow Joseph as he journeys from Africa to India, on a quest to understand man, God, the root causes of conflict, and the pathway to peace. It's a journey through the darkness in pursuit of the light.

Join us Monday, February 18th @ 6:00 PM at the "Edge" of Coquina Hall at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg's for a presentation and community meet & greet with Kuany Kiir Kuany. Stick around after the presentation for live entertainment and all kinds of community "harmony" during an OPEN-mic night along USFP's beautiful waterfront!

The event is FREE and OPEN to the public, but please RSVP so we can save you a seat!
