Event description

Description

Presented in partnership with BAX ! Brooklyn Arts Exchange (http://bax.org/homepage/)

A collaborative installation and performance project by interdisciplinary artist and choreographer Marissa Perel (BAX AIR 2015/2017), artist and performer Keke Brown, dancer Jerron Herman, dancer iele paloumpis, and video by Mingzhu Yuan. In the month of March, Keke, Jerron, iele, and Marissa have been at University Settlement for an intensive studio practice centered on conversations about how they move, how their bodies and identities are perceived in the world, and how they experience belonging, solidarity and support. Generating dance scores, scripts, and video from these conversations, this group of artists and dancers with disabilities open up their experiences to one another and the audience as an antidote to speed and other normative expectations of physical production.

The performance will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and will be followed by a conversation with the audience and performers.

University Settlement is an inclusive facility with accessible space. The main entrance has a ramp with elevator access to the theater.
