Tonight we kick off the festival with a collection of films that are unique and full of surprises. These films focus on a single unexpected event: from a young girl’s sassy rebellion to the unexpected death of a father. Our opening night program features a diverse group of productions spanning the globe from Colombia, Denmark, India, Germany, Mexico, and the US - don’t miss it!

SALOMÉ – Dir: Laura Mora – NARRATIVE - 0:16:36 – COLOMBIA
This is the story of Salome's mourning. It's the 16th of July, Virgin Del Carmen's day, and Salome, a beautiful 14-year-old girl, is celebrating the first anniversary of her beloved father's death. While everybody is partying, her grief contrasts with the festivity environment, forcing her to confront her pain, her own beliefs, her myths, and even her most precious childhood memories and illusions to be able to understand imminent death and finally get some closure.
Good Men – Dir: Brian Connors – NARRATIVE - 0:12:00 – USA
A 12-minute short film starring Ed Asner and Mark Rydell as two elderly Jewish men who are long time friends and colleagues. On an afternoon before an Oscar party, Asner and Rydell get into a serious argument about The Holocaust, Conspiracy Allegations and The 9/11 attacks on The World Trade Center.

In 2017 the festival will run from Monday, November 06, to Saturday, November 11, at our main venue, the Cinepolis theater in Coconut Grove, and at the Miami Beach Cinemateque.
The MIAMI short FILM FESTIVAL is a dedicated contributor to the cultural arts, economy, and education of South Florida. Through a highly effective strategic partnership model, MIAMIsFF has introduced its unique programs and educational intitatives year-round into theaters, classrooms, businesses, and organizations throughout South Florida.
Our mission is to present quality films from around the world, as well as to support, recognize, and honor our filmmakers for their visionary excellence in creating films under 30 minutes.
Short films, past and present, are true works of art, and deserve a venue dedicated to their exhibition.
