SCREENING BEFOREHAND @ E ST. CINEMA: 7PM - 9PM

WHO AM I: No System is Safe (Who Am I—Kein System ist sicher)

Discussion with special guest Nick Skelsey, co-founder and managing partner of Soapbox Systems and founding member of Hackcville, follows the first screening.

A garden-variety contemporary nerd, Benjamin (Tom Schilling) has no friends at school and few social skills, and can only dream of hooking up with classmate Hannah (Hannah Herzsprung). But there’s one thing Benjamin understands, and that’s computers. Before long he’s been recruited by hard-living Max (Elyas M’Barek) and becomes part of an anonymous hacking collective called CLAY (Clowns Laughing @ You). Yet just because what they do is virtual doesn’t make it safe.

How cutting edge is Who Am I? While interviewing director Baran bo Odar for other projects recently, Warner Bros. brass screened the film and acquired remake rights on the spot. Meanwhile, American moviegoers will be hearing about this director soon, as he’s currently directing the Hollywood thriller Sleepless Nights in Atlanta with Jamie Foxx and Michelle Monaghan.
