Four years ago, we broke ground for two world-class museums. Saturday, December 9, and Sunday, December 10, be among the first to tour Museum of Mississippi History and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum for FREE.

Two Mississippi Museums. One unforgettable celebration.

Saturday, December 9, 2017—Opening Day and Bicentennial Celebration

The celebration will begin on the plaza in front of the museums building at 11:00 a.m. Hear Civil Rights veterans and special guests share their stories and memories of the movement. Enjoy family friendly music and food trucks. Watch the ribbon cutting.

Free Museum Tours (ALL TIME SLOTS SOLD OUT)

If you have a timed ticket for a free tour, on Saturday, December 9 or Sunday, December 10, you will be among the first to see inside the museums. Timed tickets are required for museum entry. Guests will enter the museums according to the time printed on their tickets. Plan to arrive 30 minutes earlier than the time listed on your ticket.

FAQs

Why are the museums using free timed tickets on opening weekend?

The free timed tickets on opening weekend help us serve as many visitors as possible and maintain a secure and smooth flow of people into the building. We had such an overwhelming response to our free museum tours on Saturday, December 9, and Sunday, December 10, that we added more slots...and those sold out, too! We can’t add more tours, but we are humbled that so many of you are as excited about our museums as we are. Tickets are not needed to enjoy the opening day festivities on Saturday, December 9, that take place outdoors on the plaza.

Do I have to have a ticket to enter the museums? (UPDATE: SOLD OUT)
