Class Description is: Have you ever wanted to learn more about open source research beyond simply using Google? Would you like to do investigations on a system that does not resolve back to your agency? Interested in better understanding your digital footprint online? You may be interested in the Open Source Fundamentals Course. The one-day, zero charge course is being hosted by the Mississippi Analysis and Information

Center (MSAIC) and the FBI on November 19, 2019. The training will be held from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm at the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA). Instructors will be members of the MSAIC and the FBI.

Suggested attendees are Law Enforcement Officers or Analysts that utilize social media in investigations. No previous open source training is required. Attendees must bring a Wi-Fi enabled laptop.

Topics include:

  • Definition & Value of open source
  • Social media tools
  • Source validation
  • Efficient internet search
  • Operational security (OPSEC) online

Limited space is available and seats will be given at a first come, first serve basis. **Please limit 2 registrants per agency** Each agency is responsible for lodging and per diem costs..
